How We Got Started?

A’sani parents, twin brother, grandparents, and family connection to fight through their NICU experience led to starting a foundation to support parents & families who are grieving the loss of newborn infants and child loss. A’sani Heartbeat foundation serves as a 501c3 charitable non-profit organization and a national resource for families through partnerships with individuals with lived experiences, community organizations, family centers, hospitals, and educational systems. Our goal is to advocate, and provide research and support groups to help families embrace their loss and seek professional support to start their healing process.

Why We Got Started?

NICU parents & families are working together with health care providers, communities, schools, and other partners to reduce infant mortality in the United States and to address the high-risk percentage of infant mortality amongst black and brown women. This Collective approach can help address the social, behavioral, and health risk factors that contribute to infant mortality and affect birth outcomes. Our overall goal is to advocate and provide research and support groups to help families embrace their loss and seek professional support to start their healing process.
